Fishing Club
The Morrinsville RSA Fishing Club was formed in 2002 with the aim of encouraging members of the public to get out and enjoy our great outdoors. While Morrinsville itself may be in the middle of the island, we are never more than a couple of hours away from some of New Zealands best fishing grounds and have have a very strong boating and fishing community based in the area.
Although we are affiliated to the Morrinsville RSA, we are a family orientated, recreational fishing club, open to all members of the public, not just RSA members.
Our whole philosophy is to get as many people out fishing as possible, and the club prize list has been set up so that anybody that gets out fishing has an equal chance of winning a prize.
Our main prize for our monthly competitions is average weight and we have had the women and kids win it several times each. It is such a joy to see these people take major honours in these competitions, especially the kids, whose grins are a mile wide.
In addition to the monthly competitions, we also have annual trophies for which points are accumulated throughout the year.
Competition Times
We hold monthly competitions (except December) with the weigh-in being on the third Sunday of each month. For full details of competition dates and weigh-in times, check out our website which is listed below.
