Entertainment Group
The Morrinsville R.S.A. Entertainment Group started from an idea formed at a Womens Section meeting in 2000 when Raewynne Grigsby recruited about 12 members with a view to entertaining at Womens Section meetings or visiting Womens Section Groups. A group of 8 keen members got together at our first meeting in June 2000 and Clara Poole was appointed leader. In those early years most rehearsals were held in the Morrinsville R.S.A. Bowling Club.
In 2002 Gaelene Logan took over the reins as leader assisted by Karen Marshall, Sonia Johnson and Dianne Hugo and the group started entertaining at a few other venues such as Morrinsville and Te Aroha Senior Citizens, Matamata Rest Home and our own Counterstroke Group.
In 2003 we had three men join us and we had a name change to the R.S.A. Swingers.
Now in 2009 we are simply known as the R.S.A. Entertainment Group led by Sonia Johnson and consist of 12 keen R.S.A. members who feel that we are following the R.S.A. motto of "People helping People".
With help from the R.S.A. in the form of an annual grant we are able to entertain at hospitals, rest homes and for Senior Citizen groups etc. throughout the Waikato area. From the reaction we get in the Rest Homes that we visit we feel that the time and effort that we put in to rehearsals and costumes is well worth while.
We do three different 1 hour shows a year and are available to entertain for service club meetings etc. as well as the other venues.
